His father wrote no violin sonata, but Kosemyan complements the famous ‘Sabre Dance’ and ‘Ayesha’s Dance’ with his own transcription of a Song Poem, and Karen Khachaturian (1920-2011) is considered one of the most notable composers of Armenia. He was the nephew of the composer Aram Khachaturian.

Khachaturian was trained at the Gnesin State Musical and Pedagogical Institute in Moscow and at the Moscow Conservatory and was a professor at both schools from 1951. As a young composer, he was influenced by contemporary Western music, particularly that of Maurice Ravel.
